It's Not Your Battle to Fight!

November 4, 2015

"...This is what the LORD says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's." - 2 Chronicles 20:1

Have you ever been disheartened or have felt helpless against a situation which seemed too big to be resolved?

In the above scripture along with the story behind it, we are reminded that the battles we face are not ours, but the Lord's.

Jehoshaphat, a king of Judah who sought the Lord's help, was being threatened on every side from a vast army dead set at destroying the king and his kingdom.

Without a plan B, Jehoshaphat gathered his people in front of the temple courtyard, humbled themselves and prayed to God for divine intervention.

Sometimes we find ourselves in the midst of a battle just like this king did. It may not involve a vast army, but it may be just as huge in our minds. Things like marital issues, job-related stresses, or something we've created in our own lives because of sinful choices or those of others, can all seem overwhelming.

At times we may just want to throw up our hands and say, "I can't do this anymore!"

However, God reminds us that for those who will humble themselves and call upon His name, He will deliver and fight on our behalf.

Jehoshaphat was told to go ahead and march down to the enemy...to face the threat head on. But just when it seemed that defeat was imminent, God reassured him. "You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you...Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you." (vs.17)

Whatever you may be struggling with today, know that if you will not try to avoid or dodge your fears, and if you rely on the power of God to change the situation, He will intervene and will defeat your enemy. All you will need to do is stand still and bask in the mighty power of God.

Love this story! Love the encouragement it brings!!

Our God never makes us face a battle alone. Rise up, warrior. God is on your side!

Blessings,
Kristi
