Chartering a Badge of Hope Chapter

On behalf of Badge of Hope Ministries and the Board of Directors, I would like to take this moment to say thank you for expressing interest in chartering a chapter of Badge of Hope.  It is our sincere desire that this organization will continue to be a beacon of hope to our peace officers, and unashamedly point them to the only One who can give them true peace.

Below are the listed requirements, opportunities, as well as answers to many of your questions about Badge of Hope and how we can possibly move forward together.

Thanking you in advance,

Kristi Neace – Founder, Badge of Hope Ministries

Why charter a Badge of Hope Chapter?

We at Badge of Hope want nothing more than to reach more officers and their families with the love of Christ and the gospel message.  By chartering a chapter in your area, we can reach more people and cover more ground, thus spreading the message of HOPE to a broader audience.

What are the requirements to charter a Chapter?

In forming a new chapter of Badge of Hope, it is our desire that steps are taken to ensure the mission and integrity of this ministry God has given us.  So we ask for and require Chapter applicants/leaders to be…

  1. Currently involved in law enforcement either by occupation, by marriage to an officer, or by serving as a current LE Chaplain.

  2. A born-again believer in Jesus Christ who is actively growing in your own personal walk; must attend regularly/be a member of a Bible-believing, Christ-honoring church; and agree to the moral codes listed within.

  3. Have a passion and great love for those within the law enforcement community; a desire to build relationships with them; and a heart to display the love of Christ to them.

  4. Agree to remain accountable to the Badge of Hope Board of Directors; to be willing to submit financial documents and receipts if needed; to provide a detailed list of activities and/or events if asked for; and to disclose any other information pertinent to Badge of Hope keeping their non-profit status and/or good standing within the law enforcement community.

  5. To be willing to accept constructive criticism and suggestions; willing to yield to the board’s recommendations on a given matter.

  6. Will be transparent in all matters, giving access to the Badge of Hope Board access to any and all websites, Twitter accounts, Facebook accounts, etc.

  7. To provide quarterly updates on chapter happenings.

  8. To be a Christ-like example to those being served.

Ideas for Chapter Outreach

We at Badge of Hope understand that each chapter may look a little different.  However, we have listed some suggestions below that may help guide you as you form your group.

  1. Host LE family picnics, family fishing days, movie nights, couples retreats, or other type of social gatherings that promote healthy marriages, families, and an overall sense of community.

  2. Provide meals/goodies for officers at their department, provide small gift cards for McDonalds or other fast food places and randomly hand them out, host a “Christmas with Cops” in your home and invite officers to stop by and grab a snack, etc.

  3. Host Bible studies in your home, at your church, in a community hall or other area, etc.

  4. Put together and sponsor an LE Marriage Seminar at your church or department, or host other types of informational seminars or conferences.

  5. Send out cards of appreciation, thinking of you, get well, or sympathy cards to those within the LE family.

  6. Attend LE funerals, make hospital visits, etc.

  7. Build relationships amongst the officers and/or their spouses through get-togethers and other types of regular contact, etc.

Financial Accountability and Requirements

  1. We ask for a $25 start-up charter fee, plus 10% of all subsequent monies donated, collected, or given to said chapter.

  2. All monies received on behalf of said chapter/Badge of Hope, will be channeled through our main headquarters so as to keep accurate financial records and accountability.

  3. When monies are needed for an event or outreach opportunity, Chapter Organizer will request in writing said need, amount, person or persons in whom it will benefit, etc.Badge of Hope main office will then, once approved, have the check cut and forwarded either directly to Chapter Organizer for disbursement, or to said need.

Badge of Hope Logo

The Badge of Hope logo may be used on official Badge of Hope (approved) events, banners, fliers, brochures, etc., but may not be used on or in support of personal agendas, political causes, or other types of promotional materials or sites.

The Badge of Hope logo is solely the property of the head Badge of Hope office, and therefore, cannot be used without permission.

Challenge coins, pins, patches and other type of memorabilia with said logo will come from the head office only, unless you seek prior written permission.

Religious Affiliation

Badge of Hope Ministries was created as an outreach or ministry to reach cops and their families with the hope of a saving relationship with Jesus.  We do not intend to push one religion over another, as we are non-denominational.  However, we do adhere strictly to the Bible, God’s inerrant, infallible, holy Word. *Also see Statement of Faith.

Revoking a Chapter

In the unfortunate circumstance that a chapter is no longer functioning as a vital, moral and/or active arm of Badge of Hope Ministries, we hold the right to pull the charter and sever ties with said chapter.  They will no longer have permission or access to use the Badge of Hope name, logo, etc.  Any funding that has been raised for that Chapter, will be absorbed into the general Badge of Hope account.

Moral Codes

We at Badge of Hope Ministries believe that as Christians, spreading the hope of Christ, we should reflect that in our words, actions and deeds.

Therefore, we ask…

  • No alcohol to be present at any function, meeting, event, or study. Many of our officers/spouses have drinking issues and this causes a stumbling block to be set before them.

  • No sexually explicit materials, books, movies, magazines, etc. be brought in, viewed, supplied, or available at any time to anyone we are serving.

  • That our speech, actions, and lifestyles be above reproach.

Ephesians 4:29 says, Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Romans 12:1 says, Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Ephesians 5:1-2 says, Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

  • That any online presence whether by Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Email, Instagram, Snapchat, etc., be edifying and uplifting rather than argumentative, belittling, petty, full of drama, etc.We are called to have the mind of Christ.

  • According to God’s authoritative Word – The Holy Bible, marriage is between one man and one woman, for life.We ask that if you choose to host a chapter of Badge of Hope that you will adhere to God’s authority, over men.We also believe and stand for marriage as an irrevocable covenant between husband and wife, and therefore, at all costs, should be preserved and fought for.God says in Malachi 2:16, .The enemy wants nothing more than to destroy and malign this special, God-created entity. We at Badge of Hope have made it our mission to stand for marriage unless in the matter of waywardness as which God releases the spouse who is standing; there is abuse or fear of danger; the wayward spouse follows through with divorce and remarries another.

  • At any event, function, study, conference, or other type of outreach, those individuals who are living in different types of lifestyle choices, are to be respected, loved, and included, yet prayed for that God will reach their heart, bringing them into a right fellowship with Him.

Statement of Faith

Badge of Hope Ministries bases its ministry on the following statement of faith:

  • We believe the Old and New Testament scripture of the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, authoritative Word of God and that it is the supreme and final authority for our faith and life. 1Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existing and manifesting himself to us in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is merciful and loves us, but is just and must punish sin.Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6; John 14:6, 10; Exodus 34:6-7; John 3:16

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the only begotten Son of God, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:26, 35; John1:1-4, 1:14 and 1:29; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15

  • We believe that all people everywhere are lost and face the judgment of God, that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation, that eternal life is a free gift and cannot be earned; we are saved by grace and not by our own works, and that for the salvation of a lost and sinful human race, repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ results in regeneration by the Holy Spirit. Luke 24:46-47; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23 and 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:10-11; Ephesians 1:7 and 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-7

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, that He indwells all believers, having baptized them into the body of Christ at the time of regeneration, and that His indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life. John 3:5-8; Acts 1:8 and 4:31; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:14 and 12:13-14; Galatians 5:16-18; Ephesians 4:4-5 and 6:12; Colossians 2:6-10

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; that the saved will be resurrected to eternal life and the lost will be resurrected to judgment and punishment for sin. They will be separated from God eternally. John 3:36 and 16:7-11; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57; Jude 14-15; Revelation 20:11-15

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body, the Church. 1 Corinthians 12:12, 27; Ephesians 1:22-23

  • We believe that, as redeemed followers of Jesus Christ, we are to dedicate ourselves to prayer, to the service of our Lord, to His authority over our lives, and to the ministry of evangelism and discipleship. Matthew 9:35-38, 22:37-39, and 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-15 and 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10; Colossians 2:6-10; 1 Peter 3:15

  • We believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage, that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made to complete each other.God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female. Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9

  • We believe that all human life is sacred from conception to its natural end, and that we must have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of our fellow men. Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10

The Chartering Event

After a potential Charter Organizer has read, agreed to, and signed this document and the basic  Fundamentals of the Faith statement; an informal online interview with the potential Chapter contact(s) has been completed; and charter has been approved, then the Executive Director and/or members of the National Board of Directors will work closely with the Chapter Organizer to plan a special kick off event. This is a time to celebrate what God is doing through the local ministry, officially establish the chapter as a ministry of Badge of Hope Ministries, and announce the chapter (once again) to the law enforcement community and community at-large.

Finally, we thank you for your interest in becoming a new Badge of Hope Ministries Chapter! If you agree to all the above, please sign/date below, and we will be happy to help you get your chapter up and rolling.  May God richly bless your endeavor and may He reach more men and women for Christ than ever before!
